World Book and Copyright Day 2019


World Book Day, popularly known as ‘World Book and Copyright Day’, is an annual event organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to promote reading, publishing, and copyright. It was first celebrated on 23 April 1995, and continues to be recognized on that day. A related event in the United Kingdom and Ireland is observed in March.
The 24th edition of World Book and Copyright Day will celebrate literature and reading while focusing particularly on the importance of enhancing and protecting Indigenous languages.
Each year, UNESCO and the international organizations representing the three major sectors of the book industry such as publishers, booksellers and libraries, select the World Book Capital for a one-year period, effective 23 April each year. 

Meanwhile, “In these turbulent times, books embody the diversity of human ingenuity, giving shape to the wealth of human experience, expressing the search for meaning and expression we all share, that drive all societies forward. Books help weave humanity together as a single family, holding a past in common, a history and heritage, to craft a destiny that is shared, where all voices are heard in the great chorus of human aspiration.” Added, Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO.
A book communicates knowledge, and not only knowledge but wisdom of all kinds. They say that “The more you read, the more well-read you are”.
This date was a natural choice for UNESCO’s General Conference, held in Paris in 1995, to pay a worldwide tribute to books and authors on this date, encouraging everyone to access books — most beautiful invention for sharing ideas beyond the boundaries of humanity space and time as well as the most powerful forces of poverty eradication and peace building.

Books are a symbol of knowledge, emotions and the very reason for human wisdom. You can see that for a very long time for hundreds of years nothing could replace books and nothing will. Thus, Books plays an important role in in our daytoday life. So we have to read books to makes our exercise more efficient. Greatly, Good books improve our standard of living style. And they tone up our intellectual taste they make our outlook broad. They console us when we are depressed.

“When you open a book, you open a new world”. Everyone would agree with such statement as books have become inevitable to mankind. Hence, books are part of our everyday life. The day is a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and most importantly reading. The main aim of the World Book Day is to encourage children to the pleasures of books and reading. The reason for choosing this particular date is interesting.

Thus, A book is a good friend, teacher, father, mother, brother/sister because it gives you everything what it has and expects nothing in return. It provides alternate life experiences, realities, case studies, stories, etc. As per study, Reading a book makes you more human. A good book provides us a chance to live another life which we can't have physically but in imagination we can be anything.

Reading books enhances not only the grammar and diction of a person, but also broadens the horizons of knowledge, thereby enriching the inner world of a person. As a result, good readers can easily and effectively communicate (both oral and written) with others.  Hence, reading is the perfect hobby and we are sure that a lot of people would agree about the same.

Through reading books, you expose yourself to new things, new information, new ideas, new ways to solve a problem, and new ways to achieve a goal. Reading might help you discover hobbies or exploring things you didn’t know you like. Exploration begins from reading and understanding.
